Tyson and his charity Rebound to Rebound are teaming up with FitSchools and Men's Health magazine to fight against childhood obesity. Information about upcoming events with FitSchools will be posted on this page.
LATEST EVENT: November 3, 2008
On November 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tyson hosted a FitSchools event at Andrew Wilson Charter School. Chandler's appearance also marked the beginning of his 2008-2009 "Rebound-to-Rebound"(R2R) challenge, which is designed to help support FitSchools and to improve levels of fitness. Chandler will donate $10 for every rebound pulled down during the regular season, and will also offer incentives for the children who achieve goals established by the FitSchools program.
The event will also include new basketball goals and basketballs from Spalding, and 25 new bicycles provided by Specialized. In addition to the activities led by Chandler, members of FitSchools and Men's Health, there will be an appearance by the New Orleans Honeybees, the dance team for the New Orleans Hornets. Chandler is also inviting local businesses to help provide support for the FitSchools and the event, and continue to establish New Orleans as the foundation of improved children's health.
ABOUT FITSCHOOLS
The FitSchools Foundation is a non-profit organization started by Men's Health magazine, the world's largest men's magazine. The FitSchools mission is to institute effective, updated fitness and nutrition education, and instill a sense of fun and accomplishment into physical education. Rather than treating the symptoms of childhood obesity, FitSchools focuses on education and provides a fresh outlook designed to spark changes to children's attitudes and behaviors, which will help improve the health and wellness of future generations.
