Beast on the Boards

Tyson could get used to playing the Bucks.
It's against Milwaukee that he's had his best games recently.
Two weeks after stunning the Bucks with a last second tip-in, The Big Easy went into Milwaukee and came out with 17 rebounds and eight points as the Hornets pulled out a 95-86 victory on Friday night. Ty knew Milwaukee would put up a fight, as quoted on the Big Easy Buzz Blog:
“This was a good win for us,” Chandler said. “I knew this was going to be a scrappy game and a scrappy (Milwaukee) team. I knew we had to get some second shots and that's what I did.”
TC had two more tip-ins for New Orleans and finished off lobs from Chris Paul for two Crescent City Connections. But it was Ty's work on the glass and defensively in the paint that drew rave reviews, like this one from Niall Doherty at Hornets 247:
“Another great performance from Tyson Chandler. Defensively, he was outstanding, especially in the first half. With him holding down the middle, the Bucks were hesitant to venture in the paint—note their seven free-throw attempts in the game; they average 16.5 per—preferring to settle for jumpers.”
No. 6's 17 boards tied a season-high set on February 25 against the Detroit Pistons. His efforts helped the Hornets stem the tide after a poor first quarter that included just 14 points. The Big Easy was quoted on the Hornets' response in the Times-Picayune:
“I felt like we attacked, ” Chandler said. “Chris did an excellent job of drawing some fouls and getting to the free-throw line when they tried to extend the pressure.”
WINDY CITY WALKOVER
Tyson and the Hornets couldn't keep the momentum flowing from Friday to Saturday and suffered a disappointing, 97-79 loss in Chicago.
TC finished with nine boards and tacked on four points and two blocks but still suffered a tough loss against his former team.
“The worst thing is losing to your old team,” Ty said in a Twitter post after the game.
TC and CP3 hooked up for another CCC in the loss and No. 6 worked in a putback slam as well.
SOFT SPOT FOR CHI-TOWN
Despite the cold terms he left on, TC told Dan McGrath of the Chicago Tribune that he still had a good bond with Bulls GM John Paxson and still enjoys the city when he gets to visit:
“I had a good relationship with Pax, but not some other people, and I had a bitter taste for a while…. but today I went out, walked around Michigan Avenue, got honked at. … I remembered what a beautiful city this is. I always enjoy coming back.”
NEXT UP
The Hornets welcome in a divisional foe tonight when the Houston Rockets travel to New Orleans Arena for a Southwest Division tilt.
New Orleans won the last time the two teams met in The Big Easy, an 88-79 victory that saw No. 6 go for 14 points and 12 boards. Tyson also scored 16 points against the Rockets in Houston in November.
The matchup will go a long way toward determining seeding as the Hornets currently sit half a game behind Houston in the conference and divisional standings.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST and all the action can be seen live in New Orleans on CST.
