Six, Bobcats Breeze Past Pistons

Tyson Chandler didn't make it through to the end of the Charlotte Bobcats 88-76 victory over the Detroit Pistons, and it appears the injury he suffered to his left foot should only keep him off the court for a short period of time.

No. 6 suffered a sprain in the third quarter. He was limited to just one point, two blocks, and four rebounds in 18 minutes in the game.

"My foot started giving me problems," Ty said in a postgame interview. "I couldn't really put pressure on it. It seemed like the more I was going, the worse it was getting. As I came off to check it, it seemed like it got even worse for me."

Tyson defended the paint during Charlotte's win over Detroit Tuesday night (Getty Images).

While initial reports were position as x-rays were negative, an
MRI revealed the problem. As the Associated Press reported:

"Charlotte Bobcats center Tyson Chandler has a stress reaction in his left foot and will be out at least a week. Chandler was injured in the second half of Tuesday's win over Detroit. An immediate X-ray came back negative, but an MRI on Wednesday showed the stress reaction."

Just two days prior, TC had a double-double in a loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, and things were starting to look up for the tall center as Full-Court Press, a Detroit Pistons blog, noted before the game:

"The Bobcats are also getting Tyson Chandler healthy, slowly but surely, and he's the perfect Larry Brown center: a rebounder/defender/shot-blocker who doesn't ever need a play run for him on offense."

X-Rays were negative on Ty's foot, a positive sign for the Bobcats making the injury more of a speedbump on Ty's return to full strength rather than a setback.

After the game, TC was upbeat because the Cats were back on the winning side of things, No. 6 is optimistic that it's only be a matter of time before things fall into place.

"It was a big win for us," he said. "Guys are playing great. We have to do the same things we do now at home, on the road. The way Gerald [Wallace] is playing right now, Raymond [Felton] is playing some great games. It's going to continue to benefit us once we all get in sync."
