No. 6 Hosts Block Party
by
Devon Jeffreys
Returning from a two game absence , Tyson Chandler played one of his strongest games as a Charlotte Bobcat on Wednesday night.
Tyson recorded six blocks, secured nine rebounds and scored five points as the Bobcats recorded the largest victory in franchise history, a 35-point win over the Toronto Raptors in Charlotte Wednesday night.
After the game, Ty noted that he had just started to feel normal when the spasms hit in Philly, but he found it again on Wednesday, as quoted by the Charlotte Observer:
"That was the first time I felt like myself - in Philly" since the trade, Chandler said. "Today, I felt like myself again."

Toronto met a defensive wall, embodied by Tyson, every time it entered the paint (Getty Images). |
TC felt it was important not to allow the momentum that he had built in the Philadelphia game to disappear. He also believed that these last few games have been Charlotte's first chance to see what type of player No. 6 truly is, as quoted by Bobcats Break:
"I wanted to build off the last game I played in," Ty said. "So I wanted to come out there and be aggressive, play my style of basketball. I'm effective when I'm playing with a lot of energy and I'm all over the floor offensively and defensively. Moving around, setting picks, blocking shots, that's my game.
"I'm not a back to the basket type of guy. I'm a guy that creates stuff off of movement. If I'm not out there moving well, then I'm not myself."
Tyson scored the first points of the game and recorded three rebounds before two minutes had gone by. Of Ty's six blocks, they stifled five different players and rookie DeMar DeRozan twice. Four of his nine boards came on the offensive end and TC also had a steal.
Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer notes that Tyson's impact went beyond the box score:
Beyond those six rejections, Chandler must have changed 10 more Raptors shots: Toronto finished with season lows in points and field-goal percentage (34.5percent).
David Arnott at Rufus on Fire saw progress in the effort:
Tyson Chandler played the kind of game that justifies his fans' faith in him. 9 rebounds and 6 blocks in 22 and 1/2 minutes.
