TC Rolls Doubles at the Garden
by Evelyn Lau

Tyson Chandler had one of his best nights of the season statistically, but the Charlotte Bobcats couldn't complete a fourth-quarter rally to defeat the New York Knicks on Sunday.

Playing an impressive 40 minutes of action, No. 6 tied a season-high with 13 points while adding a season-high 14 rebounds in the 98-94 loss at Madison Square Garden. His last double-double came at Indiana on Dec. 16.

The Bobcats were shorthanded for much of the game as reported by Bobcatsbreak.com:

In spite of starting the game without co-captain Gerald Wallace, who was inactive because of a severe headache, and finishing the night without Stephen Jackson, who left the game in the third quarter with back spasms, the Bobcats battled back from a 12-point deficit and nearly sent the game into overtime.

But despite the absence of their two top scorers, the Bobcats hung in the game rather than hanging their heads. QueenCityHoops.com also added:

Every team has to deal with injuries and often the difference between a playoff team and a lottery team is the depth that is available to deal with the bumps and bruises from your key guys. When everyone is healthy the Bobcats look a lot like a playoff team.

TC's contribution of 13 points was the second highest on the team, as he went 4-for-5 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

THE BAND PLAYED ON

Tyson's strong performance Sunday was a big rebound from a tough night against the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

No. 6 and the Bobcats fell 110-102 to Utah in Saturday and Ty was held to two points and five rebounds in just over 32 minutes.

Tyson noted after the game that he's still working to get back to full strength, as quoted on ESPN

"Some days I feel like I'm 90 percent, then sometimes like last night [against Utah], I feel like I can't move,'' said Chandler, whose per game averages of 6.5 points and 6.8 rebounds are his lowest since his rookie season. "Doctors have told me I won't be 100 percent until halfway through the season.''

NEXT UP
Tyson and the Bobcats will look to break a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they host Tyson's former high school teammate Tayshaun Prince and the Detroit Pistons. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
