My Boy "Slim"
by
Tyson Chandler
I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions on Baby Tyson's nickname. Thanks to your help, I'm going to go with "Slim."
He's doing good. He's about to be a month. He's getting big and he's survived a Sacha attack. Sacha has accidentally dropped bags and brushes on him, and stuff like that.
All of a sudden, my wife will hear, "Oops. I'm sorry Baby Tyson!"
COMING TOGETHER
That was a great win for us last night. It was a great ending, a great run. D-West was stepping out. I'm surrounded by shooters!
It was definitely the biggest win of the season so far, because it comes at a point where we're starting to come together and get our bearings. And just mentally, we want to get back on the winning track.
It was a good game for me as an individual too, because it's like one of those things where once you start rolling, you start rolling. It seems like I'm still trying to get my feet under me for whatever reason. I've had knick-knack injuries here and there and just haven't gotten into a groove yet. A game like that can help me get into a groove a little bit and hopefully carry over into other games.
I know I'm always going to need to come up with the big stop at the end, and with a great player like Tim Duncan, I just try to force him into some tough shots. I try to force him into uncomfortable situations. He's such a great player, you have to make him go to his second set of options.
We have Sacramento and L.A. at home now. Those are big. Sacramento beat us, so we own them one. And obviously, the Lakers are the game that we've been waiting for. When we lost to them at the beginning of the season, we hadn't got it together yet. I think now, we're coming together better.
THE TRADE
I thought getting Antonio Daniels was a good trade for us, because we needed a backup point guard. He gives us championship experience and veteran leadership, a good guy in the locker room.
We always try to welcome the new guys when they come in. We want them to feel as comfortable as possible and let them know that we're a family around here and we do things the right way. But no matter what the situation is, even a guy wanted to be traded, it's still a little bit of a shock. You're walking in the locker room and you don't know the guys. You get on the bus or the plane and you don't know where to sit. You don't want to rub anybody the wrong way.
And then playing, you're just trying to fit in. You want to be aggressive, but you don't want to be selfish. You can see it in the guy's eyes.
I think we've made Antonio feel comfortable, but I guess for a couple of days, he was like, "Where do I go?"
NO UPDATE ON THE BASS
I still haven't had a chance to take that bass out because of the weather. But with all the advice I've got, I know that once the weather is right and I get a chance to get back there, he doesn't stand a chance.
